Bhagvana Traditional Bass Morchang
Bhagvana Traditional Bass Morchang
Hand forged in iron by Master Bhagvana who is the first, third generation maker in Rajasthan. The newest of the makers in Rajasthan, Bhagvana is doing quite well for himself with the wisdom of three generation of makers and his new found blacksmithing skills. Traditional style Morchang include a tail on the end of the frame which aids in relief of hand fatigue for longer intervals of play. Bhagvana Bass range in notes from E1 to C2#.
These Bass Traditional style Morchang have a soft reed and long, tall triggers that respond very well to fast and slow inward play. The trigger has a spiral design for a smooth and very long sustain with a soft and buttery feel. Melodic in nature, these morchang are quite sensitive to open/close glottis play in the Rajasthani style. Medium in volume and sensitivity, they sing a sweet song for those who are experienced morchang players. Morchang respond best to inward playing style, however, outward plucks are possible.
Due to the nature of hand forged harps the size, appearance, and sound may vary slightly. This makes each morchang a unique work of art. Morchang are tuned by Bhagvana close to the notes listed in the drop-down KEY SELECTION below. If you would like an instrument that is tuned to the nearest note, please select “Permanent Tuning Service” from the shop, and our in house harpsmith will accurately tune it, and engrave the tuning on the back of the frame for easy reference!
