Hand forged in India in the old fashion, the iron morchang has a simple forged beauty. Medium sensitivity as well as volume. The morchang has a stiff reed and possesses percussive as well as some melodic capabilities. A solid morchang for the price. These Morchang may or may not be decorated with stampings along the body. Below, you will find the KEY SELECTION drop-down from which you can choose between HIGH pitch (A2 and up), MIDRANGE (A1# to G2#) which are most common, and BASS (A1 and lower). These Morchang are untuned, or as we at The Harpery like to say “World” tuned and do not fall exactly on a typical note.

Due to the hand forging, these instruments may vary slightly in appearance and sound. These morchang are closely tuned by the maker. For an instrument tuned perfectly up to the closest note, choose “Permanent Tuning Service” in the Shop and our in house harpsmith will tune to the closest note, and engrave the tuning on the back!
